bla bla bla

Well, on the one hand it was to have fun! To enable people to get together to enjoy, explore, and celebrate nature. One way we are doing this is by making it easy for our birders, hedgehog, wildflower, bee and “bug” enthusiasts to make contact and share their knowledge and enthusiasm enthusiasm - with each other and wider village community.
A more serious side arose from realising just how much and how quickly the natural environment around us is changing. Things like the increasing summer temperatures, the depletion in numbers of bees, and the ongoing loss of our precious ash trees really bring it home: thinking and agreeing how best to protect our environment needs to start now. We will need more shady spots in the future, resilience to drought in our gardens and farms, and action to protect the threatened nature we depend on and want to be there for our children.
We are very much inspired by Frank Entwistle whose foresight gave Colerne village the legacy of his 'Frank’s Wood'. Wild Colerne - not-for-profit group with charitable status - works in partnership with the commnity and its local groups, as well as the wider local area. We are represented on the Parish Council’s Working Group for Climate and Biodiversity to help shape and support their Agenda.
Suggestions and involvement are very much welcome as we, together, develop our local biodiversity projects such as the 'Save our Colerne Swifts' project and our rolling programme of nature walks, talks and events.
